Arrival and Dismissal Grades Kindergarten through 8
Morning Arrival
All Students (with the exception of bus students) enter through the Bond Avenue Doors.
Students who arrive via car must enter the car line via Harper Avenue and drive around and down the side of the school. Once you get to the bike rack, teachers will be present to escort your child(ren) into the school via the Bond Avenue doors.
Students who walk to school will also enter via the Bond Avenue doors.
For safety reasons, no one may pull up on Bond Avenue and drop your child off.
For safety reasons, no one may pull up on Turner Avenue and drop off your child.
If your child arrives past 8am, please park your car on a side street and escort your child into the building via Turner Avenue. Students who arrive late must be escorted into the school by a parent. For safety reasons no student may be “dropped off” in front of the school. There is no parking on the school side of Turner Avenue.
Out of respect for our neighbors, there is no parking on the school side of Turner Avenue may block a driveway to drop off a child(ren).
Children are considered late if they enter the school past 8:00am.
Parents using our morning CARES program, please park your car in the church lot and escort your child(ren) to the gym doors on Harper Avenue where Mrs. Mascitelli or Mrs. Rollo will be waiting. If you have older children being dropped off at the same time, please have them enter the school through the Harper Avenue doors with Mrs. Mascitelli or Mrs. Rollo where they will meet up with their class in the gym.
Afternoon Dismissal
All students walking home will exit via the Bond Avenue doors.
All students being driven home will exit the Harper Avenue doors.
If your child(ren) (is, are) being picked up by car, we believe our school community is safest when you pull into the school yard and come up to the Harper Avenue doors to wait for your child(ren) and then escort your child(ren) to your car.
If you are driving and do not intend on pulling into the school lot, instead parking on a side street, for safety reasons you still MUST walk to the Harper Ave doors to meet your child.
Parking on the side streets, particularly Turner Avenue and Harper Avenue is tight and at times hazardous. I ask that you be respectful of our neighbors, our bus drivers and one another. Most especially, I ask that you are mindful that our children are precious, irreplaceable and impressionable. They model our actions and how we treat others.
Bus riders leave through the Turner Avenue entrance.
Students may not climb the trees in the front yard of the school and must be supervised by parents at all times once dismissed from school.
Parents are not permitted to park on Bond Avenue when picking up their child/ren from the walker line.
Buses
Bus schedules are determined by individual school districts.
Upon arrival students are to report directly to the gym.
It is expected that our students who ride the buses behave in a manner which reflects favorably on themselves, their families and St. Bernadette School. Failure to do so may result in the suspension of the bus riding privilege.
As buses arrive at dismissal, students will be escorted to the bus
Note: Students shall not be dropped off at school to enter the building prior to the times published above as there is no scheduled supervision. The C.A.R.E.S program is designed for childcare before school hours. Parents must make prior arrangements to register the student in CARES
