It was a short week at school, but there is a lot to report!
Again, I need to start with today since it was so chock full of fun. I got to see some great costumes this morning during the PreK and Kindergarten Halloween parades. Now I know why the children were practicing all of those songs. They did a wonderful job singing about haunted houses and pumpkins. I sure hope they all have fun tonight.
Each of those classes had a small Halloween celebration at snack time. I saw amazing homemade treats. I think the best were little tiny oranges disguised as pumpkins. Clever, clever.
All of the students had fun during the Harvest Fest this afternoon. There were treats, face painting, games, and races. I think my favorite part about Harvest Fest was seeing how the older children jump right in to help the younger ones. The 8th graders were doing the face painting and running the games. They put a lot of effort into making sure everyone had a good time.
In between, I got a peek at the 2nd Graders’ Saints’ Museum. The students dressed up like their favorite saint and had information ready to share. They all decorated their “activation button” and when somebody stepped on the paper button, the student offered details about the saint’s life.
Again, the older students offered their support: all of the classes came down to the cafeteria to go through the Museum. St. Thomas was giving out chocolate coins. Kudos to everyone!
I have to give a shout out to the CYO soccer teams. Both JV and Varsity are headed to the playoffs this weekend. The varsity team went undefeated this season. Nice work!
I also caught a glimpse of some very important guests this week. They were the Middle States Team. They were visiting our school and talking to teachers, parents, and students. I know all of the students were very respectful and did an excellent job demonstrating our community spirit.
There is no school tomorrow, but lots going on next week.
There is a Coffee Social for parents on Tuesday, Nov. 5th in the Wright Center. I heard this is a nice way for parents to get to spend some time getting to know each other - and take a break.
On Friday night, the Home & School Association is having a Ladies Night in O’Brien Hall at 7:30. Our mom’s sure do deserve a night out – and they can do some shopping, too.
