Our students should be active and involved and participate in their education. The goal is to engage the students through a variety of teaching techniques to ensure the students are comprehending the material in order for them to apply what they learn.
Student Responsibilities:
* Complete Assignments - No homework is to be completed at morning recess
* Be prepared for class with all materials needed for that class.
* Keep desk and room neat
* Be Polite, Respectful, and Trustworthy
* Follow all COVID practices including social distancing, handwashing, and wearing masks
Students must have a book to read in the event they finish their work early.
GRADING SYSTEM
Grades are in three categories: Assessments, Classwork, and Homework.
Projects will be placed in one of the categories. Online laboratory activities as well as hands-on science lab work are also implemented. Activities to work in groups or pairs provide the students with an opportunity to share and learn to work together.
Homework is an integral part of the student's education. It is the student's responsibility to check their homework and subsequently learn from their mistakes. Every assignment that is thoughtfully completed will receive 10 points. Varying states of completion will receive varying points if any.
Tests will have advanced notice. All material covered in the chapter should be reviewed for the test. Different types of assessments will be used to determine the students understanding.
Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
A copybook or binder should be used to keep track of notes and handouts.
ABSENCES
Students can check with a friend, my web page or directly with me for work missed. Any work missed must be made up. Individual consideration will be made for special circumstances.
FAILURE NOTICE
This is given to a student not maintaining their academic potential. Lack of effort and incomplete homework are the reasons for the notice. This may keep a student from participating in school activities.
WEDNESDAY CARDS
Students must follow the procedures described for the Wednesday Cards. It is important this line of communication between parents and teacher be maintained.
It is expected that each student is responsible for their work and their actions. It is important that the students learn about themselves and what is expected of them.
Any project not completed will receive an INCOMPLETE on the report card until it is turned in.
EXTRA CREDIT is not given on a regular basis as the belief is that students should keep up with their daily school work. When extra credit is offered it will be open to all students in the class.
