Santa Secret Shop
We will be going to the Santa Secret Shop on Monday, Dec 9th to do some "shopping" for our families. Please fill out the envelope that came home last week to let us know whom your child should get gifts for and how much they may spend. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY DAY WE WILL GO TO THE SHOP SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SEND THE LIST/MONEY IN ON MONDAY!!!
Nativity Presentation
Weds, December 11th 7:00pm in the Church
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at this special Christmas celebration. The children should be in OBrien Hall by 6:00pm, dressed in their Christmas finest. If your child will be unable to attend please email me so we may plan accordingly.
The next two weeks in kindergarten will be very busy as we get ready for Christmas!! We will be practicing for our Nativity Presentation on Weds night, making a surprise gift or two and doing some fun Christmas activities.

This week in ELA we will identify the sound of letter "p", practice reading our High Frequency Word "to", and read several literature selections that will answer our Essential Question "Why do people use wheels?". In MATH we will complete our Unit: Numbers Beyond 10 and in RELIGION we will continue our chapter; "Families Are Good". We will also begin this holy season of Advent, preparing ourselves for Jesus' birth.

Please remember we are a NUT FREE classroom!!! Several snacks and lunches have come in recently that either had nuts in them or were made in a facility that processes PEANUT or TREE NUTS. Please read all labels carefully!!! Thank you !!!
Report Card Skills
At the end of November we will be assessing some skills for our first report card which will come home in early December. Some things to start practicing with your child would be; full name, address, phone number, and birthday (no year needed). These skills will be assessed orally so the children willl not have to know how to write them.
Hot Lunch
If you order hot lunch for your child please remember you are still responsible for sending in a snack and drink for morning snack!!
This week in ELA we will read several literature selections that will answer our Essential Question; Why do animals move in different ways? We will also work to read our new High Frequency Word "a", identify the sound of letter "c" and practice reading with expression. In MATH we will finish our Unit on Numbers to 10 and begin our new Unit Numbers Beyond 10, focusing on the "teens". In RELIGION we begin out new Chapter "We Belong to Families".

We attended Mass on Friday for the first time this year with our 6th grade Prayer Partners. I was so proud of our kindergarten class!!!! They did a great job and earned 3 links for our whole class behavior system AND they each received a Golden Ticket for our school wide PBIS Behavior System. They will put their ticket in the prize bin on Monday and have a chance to win some prizes at Morning Gathering next week!!
This week in ELA we will read several literature selections that will answer our Essential questions; How do animals communicate? How do people communicate?. We will also practice reading our new High Frequency Word "we", identify words that begin with the sound of letter "t", practice reading with expression and continue to discuss our senses. In MATH we will continue with our unit "Numbers to 10", focusing on comparing groups 0 to 10, adding "one more" , and ordinal numbers to the 10th. In RELIGION we will continnue with our chapter "Talking to god os Good".

Week of November 4, 2019
Updates
We had a fun and very exciting Halloween in kindergarten. Thank you for joining us for our parade, I just wish the weather could have cooperated with us!! The children did a great job adjusting to the change in our plans and must be commended for how quickly they responded when the fire alarm went off unannounced later in the morning!!
Homework
Keep an eye out for our first homework packet to come home in your child's folder this week. We will begin sending a packet home every Monday and it will be do back on Friday. In addition to the packet please review the Report Card skills listed below. These skills will be assessed at the end of this month in preparation for our first report card in Dec.

Updates
Halloween Parade/Party October 31st
We will have a parade and small party for Halloween on Oct 31st. The parade will take place
at 8:30am. The children should come to school already dressed in their costumes, OVER their play
clothes. (We will take the costumes off after the parade to keep them clean for Trick or
Treating.) We will come out the Bond Ave doors, sing a few songs, then parade around to the front of
school. We will have a small party during our snack time. A homeroom mom will contact you if we
need you to send any treats/supplies in for the party.
All Saints Day- NO SCHOOL November 1st
Kidstuff Books are due ASAP. Please return all books not paid for.
HOT LUNCH- any days you purchase hot lunch for your child please remember you are still
responsible to send in a snack for our morning break.
