Hi! I’m Bernie the Bear – the Mascot of St. Bernadette School.
Last year I started a new job as an undercover reporter at the school. After a long summer vacation, I am back at work!
I want to give “bear-y” special welcome to all of our new students and families. I’m looking forward to seeing all of my friends in person at the Sundaes on Sunday Ice Cream Social this coming Sunday (September 7th at noon in O’Brien Hall). Bring your cameras for some photo ops with me.
This was the first week of school, and boy was I glad to see everyone. These kids have grown over the summer!
I am happy to report that everyone was ready to learn and had a lot of fun with their new teachers. There were a lot of activities happening so that everyone got to know each other a little better. I noticed that some of the younger students made “All about Me” books. Others created fun projects about what they liked most about their summer vacation. The halls are lined with the students’ work already – I’m impressed!
Here are a few thumbnails - you can see bigger versions in the Photo Album (click the "i" in the left corner for the caption...)
In the TV studio, the 8th graders lead the school in prayer and make important announcements. The new crew did a great job (look for a video of them in action in an upcoming Blog).
I was happy to see that nothing has changed when it comes to the older kids helping the younger ones. I think that is the one thing I love most about St. Bernadette School – the genuine caring and sharing that takes place every day.
Hope you all can make it to the Ice Cream Social this Sunday – there will be tables in the back of the hall marked by grade so that parents can meet up with others in their grades.
