The Pre-K pals look forward to welcoming the first full day of SPRING this week! The Pre-K friends' classroom bears that were placed in a handmade den will be awakened from their hibernation on Tuesday. So much fun will follow as we start to explore with spring-themed activities that include the butterfly life cycle, insects as well as new plant and flower life!
The Frog Street curriculum's theme for this month, "Things That Move", will allow for the children to incorporate travel and directional words into their daily learning, creative expression and motor skill development. The children will participate in lessons about different types of travel such as boat, train, airplane, car and bus. It will be loads of fun taking a walking tour around our school block to observe new signs of spring. We will even try to create forms of transportation for small toys during creative building time!
The Lenten season continues with encouragement to make little changes that will help us grow more in kindness, respect for others and love. We will use our prayers to remember people who may need support as well as offer prayers of thanksgiving for all the blessings in our lives. Bible stories about Jesus' teachings will be presented and discussed with our little ones.
Classroom Notes:
We are a tree nut and sesame-free classroom. Always check labels to be sure that food items sent into the classroom are free of these allergens. Please, no M&M or Dunkin Donut products as these can not be verified free of the allergens due to cross-contamination. Check with me before sending in any treats for birthday celebrations. Thanks!
Please keep your child home if he or she has become ill (persistent wet cough, vomiting, diarrhea) within 24 hours of the school day. We are all mindful of the health of the Pre-K children and staff in our classroom, so please do not send your child into school until he or she is symptom-free for 24 hours without the aid of any medication or supplements that would temporarily suppress symptoms.
As the weather becomes warmer and more outdoor-friendly, we will be outside of the classroom more and more for fresh air, play, exercise and learning activities. Please be sure your child wears sneakers or supportive shoes with backs for running and moving safely.
Thank you to all the Dads and Special Friends who attended the Pre-K 4 Spring Fling for Dads and Guests. The children l-o-v-e-d the visit from all the wonderful guests who joined us for a fun morning in the gym, treats and a fabulous awards ceremony. We greatly appreciate your time and participation in this event to make the morning so memorable for your wee ones. A BIG thank you must be given to the fantastic Mrs. Wallace who so carefully and lovingly prepared the activities in the gym to share with your children. What a blessing it is to have Mrs. Wallace as our PE teacher here at St. Bernadette School!
