12 inches= 1 foot
3 feet = 1 yard
36inches= 1 yard or 3 feet
We use an inch ruler to measure small objects( our desk, a book etc) and yard sticks to measure large objects (length of a room, basktball court etc)

ELA:

Writing: Is Gloria a good friend? Why or Why not? Write a paragraph (5 or more sentences) to explain your reason. Remember to indent, include a topic sentence, text evidence/details from the story, and a closing sentence. Complete draft 1 in "R" copybook, self edit, final copy on theme or any lined paper.

Morning Meeting/Reflection: Read quietly for 20 minutes in your favorite spot at home!

Writing:: Read Text pgs 272-273. Brainstorm a person you would like to write about for our Informative Writing this week. You will be asked to compare/ contrast this person. It can be a friend, family member, or teammate. In "R" copybook write 3 ways you and this person are alike and 3 ways you are different. (You will use this in tomorrow's lesson). This is brainstorming, so not full sentences. Save in "h" folder for tomorrow!

Morning Meeting/Reflection: Feast of The Annunciation marks the visit of the angel Gabriel to Mary, where he told her she would be the Mother of Jesus Christ, The Son of God. Think about how Mary felt? Was she nervous? Scared? Excited? Grateful? Let us say a Hail Mary this morning in our gratitude to Mary's "YES" to God's will.

Religion :
We come together to share the Eucharist, Jesus' Body and Blood, during mass. Read and complete pgs 129-130. Study these definitions:
Gloria: prayer of praise at the beginning of mass
Collect prayer: the prayer of praise and petitions in the beginning of mass

Grammar: Irregular verbs; Have, Has, and Had. Read rule on top of RN pg 113 and complete page independently.

Writing: Begin first draft of Compare/Contrast Informative Writing. Paragraph 1: write a paragraph describing how you and your friend/family member are alike .Must use a topic sentence and 3 details. Example: My best friend Erin and I are a lot alike. We both love _________________.. Another reason is we both play ____________. Our favorite hobby is ___________.
***Make sure to indent, have a topic sentence, and to use different ways to start each sentence.. Self Edit paragraph 1 for punctuation and spelling. (Use theme paper or "R' copybook.)

Brain Break: Look up Kid's yoga on YouTube and enjoy some mindfulness for your body and soul

Morning Meeting/Reflection: Take a 10-minute mindfulness walk through your neighborhood or yard and notice if you see or hear the sounds of spring!

Grammar: Irregular verbs: Do, Does, and Did. Complete RN pg 116

Writing: Begin rough draft of 2nd paragraph for Informational Writing. Write your 2nd paragraph detailing the differences between you and your friend/family. For example, Although Erin and I are alike in many ways, we are different, too. Erin is an only child and I have 3 sisters and a brother. She watches ________, but I ________.
You can google words to use when comparing and contrasting. Make sure to give 3 details how you are different and include a strong closing sentence. Self edit for punctuation and spelling.

Tech Time: Choose one of the free websites I posted on Class Dojo last week and explore/practice for 20 minutes!

Answer the following Question in "R" copybook: (you do NOT need to rewrite the question, but please number each answer and write neatly!
1. How is Art connected to past?
2. Where do Glenmae and the goat live?
3.What is Mohair? What do you think Glenmae will make with it?
4.What is the name of the tool on which Glenmae is hanging her yarn?
5. How has Glenmae changed since the beginning of the story?

Writing:
Complete final copy of Compare/Contrast writing.
Include a title. :Example: " My Sister and Me ". "My best Friend and I"
Must have 2 paragraphs; 1st paragraph: Comparing using at least 3 details and must have 5 sentences.
2nd paragraph: Contrast using at least 3 details and must have 5 sentences. Using compound sentences helps to organize ideas!
You can type or write your final copy and staple rough draft behind the final copy to be turned in at a later date. Place rough draft and final copy in your Snow Folder. If you TYPED your fnal copy please email final copy to: [email protected]

Morning Meeting/Reflection: Think of a song that makes you smile! In your journal write about why this song makes you happy. Does it remind you of a person or a memory? Do you like the words? The rhythm and beat? Remeber to use your best handwriting and draw a picture when you are complete!

1. Petition: We ask God for a favor or something we need.
2. Thanksgiving: a prayer to say thank you to God for all our blessings
3, Praise: We praise God for all he does for us and for being God, our Almighty Father
4. Adoration: prayer where we adore God and delight in all his goodness.
5. Intercession: We pray and ask Mary or the saints to intercede for us. To ask God on our behalf.
When you finish watching Session 2: Episode 1 The Ultimate Prayer read each definition of the kinds of prayers above. Then, choose 1 form of prayer and write your own short prayer on a piece of theme paper or construction paper. Do you want to ask God for something? Thank him for your blessings? YOUR CHOICE! When finished decorate your prayer and pray/share it with your family.
OPTIONAL: Send a picture of your prayer through Class DoJo so we can all pray together as we prepare for Holy Communion!

Measurement Word Problems: Read and complete pgs 677-680. Remeber to UNDERLINE what we know and circle what we NEED to find out!
Math fact practice for 10 minutes: Find dice! Roll 2 dice and see how fast you can add them together.

ELA

Spelling: Take 12 post it or smll pieces of paper and write each spelling word. Crumble them up and start throwing them with a partner in your family. It's a Spring Snowball fight! Throw one, pick one up, read/shout out the word and toss again! How many did you get correct? Extension: Don't look and try to spell it!
RN: Complete pg 121-124

Reading: Read and complete L 23 in Close Reader "Basket Weaving"
Grammar: Review forms of the verb "Be" Complete RN pg 125

Goal: Use a centimeter ruler to measure length .
- You can measure an object in centimeters (cm) or meters (m).
- There are 100 centimeters in 1 meter.
- Use cm to measure smaller objects like a golf ball, a safety pin, piece of chalk
Practice measuring with a centimeter ruler by choosing 5 small items in your house.
Complete Text pgs 685-688. *remember when we estimate we are making an eduacted guess, not an exact measurement.

ELA:

Word Work: Use L 23 vocab words and choose an activity from the Word Study Menu Board that is posted on Class DoJo to review the vocab.

Reading: Do a retelling today with a favorite book. Read a book to yourself. When finished start at the beginning and retell what happened in beginning, middle, and end, Then in your "R' copybook write the title, character names, setting, the problem and solution of the story. Would you recommend this book to a friend?

Reading:
1.Compare Text. Read "Text to Self" on text pg. 305. In your "R" copybook share something you know how to make. List the tools you need for your skill and how you use them.

Goal: Practice trick words with silent consonants, Write a written response using text evidence for "Half Chicken"

Grammar:
1. Click on the link below to watch a lesson on trick words that have silent consonats. This means the word is spelled using a silent letter that we cannot decode. We recognize the silent consonant becasue we do not hear it when we promounce the wrod. For example "knot" the "k" consonant sound is silent.

Reading/Writing
1. Reread "Half Chicken" silently. you may want to use an EZ-Reader or ruler to stay on track!
2. Complete the "Write About Reading" on text pg 335.
Remember:
1. Turn the question into your topic sentence.
2. Use text evidence. Go back to the story and find examples that prove Half CHicken was helpful. Who did he help? How did he help? You should provide 3 examples and each sentence should use transition words like "Also, Then. Another way, Another example is...
3. Write a strong closing sentence that summarizes the mail idea adn topic sentence.
4. Check for spelling and puncuation.
5. Write a final copy on lined paper and upload to your Class DoJo Portfolio.
