We reviewed the heart shapes by making a heart man. We reviewed the letter H in sign language. We counted hearts.
We had a great Valentine's Day. We played games; pass the heart and musical hearts. We loved the cookies, brownies and candy fish. Thanks to everyone who donated these items to make our snack time very special. We really appreciate this.The students put their valentine cards into the valentine bags of each child.
The students learned about St. Valentine and how he was very kind and thought of people in need and cared for everyone.
The students traced and colored red hearts. They found hearts in a picture. They also made a beautiful card to give to someone special. It is in their folders. They ripped paper and then glued it on a heart.
We introduced penguins. The children learned what a penguin looks like, what they eat, how they move in water and on land, and that penguins do not fly. We walked around the room like a penguin and then swam and dove like a penguin. The children traced their hands on black paper with a white crayon. We cut their hands out and they glued them on a snow covered scene to create a penguin with eye, beak,and a body.
We counted penguins and did a math penguin game.
The students are beginning to recognize their names and first letters of their first name. Everyday the students look for their name on a snowman after they unpack in the morning.

Coloring helps build eye hand coordination and fine motor control. We ask the students to do their best.
We will be reviewing the procedures for our classroom rules everyday. We discussed not running in our room, using inside voices, keeping our hands to ourselves, hands should not hurt our friends, eating at the tables, resttime, asking to use the bathroom and taking turns in the class.
We will try to go outside when the weather allows. Please check the weather for proper attire and coats.
We will practice for a firedrill every month. Please reassure your child we are just practicing so we know what to do.
We introduced Lock down drill. The students will sit quietly on the floor in the dark. We will practice every month.
Every day we try to read a story to the class. The students love the stories. This can be read at home. It helps the children hear words and sounds, provides some quiet time, and introduces them to letters, words, and print. You can ask questions that happen in the story. It is good time to cuddle.
